A New Obsession

Last night Adam and I went on our first engaged date. It felt pretty much like a normal date except I had a pretty ring on. And we may have sat a little closer to each other. But that’s mostly because the drunk girl next to me (btw, who gets drunk at a Dave Barnes Christmas concert??) was practically sitting on my lap. I think she was trying to snuggle. So I tried to snuggle with Adam instead.

Anyways, where was I? Oh yes, concert. Dave Barnes with Drew and Ellie Holcomb started their Christmas tour in Raleigh last night and Adam and I went.

Dave Barnes is one of my favorite singers of all time. He has never gotten as big as I think he should be. Which I actually kind of like because his concerts are always really intimate. He is also one of the funniest individuals I have ever met. (Ok, I met him once for about five minutes and I was too shy to really say much…) But still, the point is he is HILAROUS. His concerts are this grand mix of singing and stand-up comedy.

Dave was brilliant, as expected. But little did I know I would get such an additional treat. I had never heard Drew and Ellie Holcomb before. Folks, I’m obsessed. Already. They are husband and wife and when they sing together it makes you melt. Seeing them made me want to invest in voice, guitar, piano, songwriting, and harmonica lessons for Adam and me. Soon as that happens we’ll be on the road together…watch out.

Please check them out.

Here are my favorite songs that they sang:
Live Forever
Fire and Dynamite
Hung the Moon
Someday
Baby, It’s Cold Outside

You can go their website and push play in the upper left corner and it will cycle through these five. I know this because I cycled through them over and over while working on a paper today for two and half hours. At about 3 minutes each. Times 5. Divided by 2.5 hours. I think that’s about 10 times each. Yep that sounds about right. I’m listening to them while I’m writing this too. For inspiration. People I can’t stop. Yikes.

That's all for now. Sorry I haven't posted the proposal story yet. I will soon. I think. Thanks for all of the wall posts, texts, calls, etc. congratulating us. We are so excited (and have already had the discussion agreeing that this doesn't mean we have to grow up. Phew.)
Keep us in your prayers as we enter this next chapter in our relationship. Lots of Love.
