New Faces, New Voices

Hello, I am not Elise. I am Jen, Elise’s friend and am honored to make a guest appearance on her wonderful blog!

Today, one of my good friends LAURA (who you will hear from soon) got some really amazing news. This spring has been a time of uncertainty and transition for her as she adjusted to life after graduate school. For a long time she sought and prayed for a teaching job in Virginia, struggling with questions such as where to live, what part time jobs to take, and just discerning what the next step was in her life. Throughout the whole process she remained faithful to God, prayerfully waiting for him to shed light on her next move. Well, TODAY Laura got a call letting her know that she got an assistant teacher’s job at a great school starting in a couple of weeks! She is so excited and has been praying about this specific job and we could not be happier for her. So here is a PRAISE to PATIENCE and STEADFASTNESS in waiting on the Lord, even in the midst of what seems like unending uncertainty. ¡Puede SUPERAR cualquier cosa con Dios!

Nope, still not Elise. It’s one of her other best friends, Laura. You will hear again from Elise soon- I promise!

What could be better than spending some time with two beautiful best friends at a beautiful beach? It is amazing how a location can affect memories and emotions so deeply. I have been coming to Hatteras for a number of years and it is a place where I have spent time with some of my favorite people in the world – my family and some best friends. Unfortunately, my other best friend, Corrine could not make this trip and I have been missing her so much. Almost everything here reminds me of her. Today, Elise, Jen and I were walking barefoot on the beach and I was looking at our footprints and then suddenly missed Corrine’s large footprints. (Corrine has large feet-in a good way- for those of you who don’t know her.) She is such a special friend to me and I wish that she could be here so badly.
The beach is a place where I also love to be alone and think. I love watching the waves crash, the birds playing in the surf, dolphins jumping in the ocean (what a wonderful surprise!) and feeling the warm sun on my skin. Today, I had some time to go sit on the beach by myself and reflect on God’s beauty and his faithfulness. As Jen mentioned earlier, I just found out that I was offered a job at a school I am thrilled to work at. The past two months have been a time of waiting on the Lord and seeking his will. It has been a very uncomfortable and vulnerable time and God has been teaching me how I have to fully lean on him and surrender everything to him. Today was a day that I felt so reassured of God’s love for me and that he is working all things together. It is amazing how God knows just what we need at just the right time.

“Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him”. –Isaiah 64:4
It is such a wonderful reminder to know that God hears our prayers and acts on behalf of those who wait for him.

  1. I miss Laura Tyler, Jen (and Corrine too). One thing is for sure, Elise knows how to choose the best people to be her friends. I love them all. Have fun girls. PS. I also miss Elise. I will see all of you tomorrow.

  2. Love the new faces and voices. I miss all three of you and Corrine too. Wish I could be with you so we could all get confused about which Laura people are talking to.
